As of RIGHT NOW! I am on my way back to my birthplace Orangeburg, SC home of the SC State Bulldogs...I believe. Today is going to be a big day for yours trully, it marks the second meet of the season, an opportunity to perform in the presence of my father and a bit of a homecoming(not really).
Here are the day's duties: 4x100 (a basic warmup w/in the hurdle warmup); my MAIN EVENT the 110 hurdles (definately planning to make the necessary improvements in order to drop a good time) I plan on running an aggressive race today...technique will take the backseat I'm pretty confident that at this time in the season I should be technically sound enough to let that take the backseat. I've been practing hurdles and perfecting technique without the necessary aggression for 2 years so now this year and today mark the agression phase (check the post meet for the results).
Next on the agenda is the 100: agression again...explosive out of the blocks and drive down the track working on arm drive and turnover...I plan on running a half-descent race today show em that hurdlers are some of the best sprinters on the track.Following the 100 I believe I get a bit of a break until the 4x200: this race is all about rhythm and strength I'll probably be popping this one off to my preference because it allows me to work on that block start and drive phase for the hurdles. Even though the two drive phases from the hurdles and the 200 are quite different they compliment each other well. The 200 calls for a drive phase that is made up of about 8-10 strong power strides in order for the slingshot effect out of the curve...in comparison the drive phase to the first hurdle is 8 strong aggressive steps which build the runners momentum in order for the desired attack on the first hurdle. Hurdles (strong, fast, powerful) 200(strong, gradual, powerful, building).
To cap off the evening ill be running a leg on the 4x400: conditioning...Conditioning...CONDITIONING. Nuff said
The weather conditions are quite different from last weekends warm coastal weather forecast predict that it top out at about 55 with a 60% chance of light showers. Crappy conditions but the track is still 400 meters, the hurdles are still 42inches and the distance is still 110 meters so I have to execute the same as I would if it was 85 and sunshine. I'm about to call it a trip tho and get some z's during the bus ride.

I hope you had good, aggressive meets in your hometown track meet. I am sure your father was glad to see you perform on the track. My key word to you for this day as your blog father is AGGRESSIVE. I will have to get you some aggressive orange rollaway beds for your return back to college in the ATL after your day in your hometown. I guess you will have to settle for z's on the bus trip back to the ATL with half your body on and off your bus seat...LMAO. By the way, it was 85 and sunshine in my backyard today. You should have had the track meets here. I could have got my Lakeland water rollaway beds ready for you to sail away very aggressive...LOL!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your post game report with your results. I am expecting an aggressive blog post from you, Rashad, with good aggressive results of your hometown track meet. That is the bottom line because me and aggressive Coach E said so!!!!
